Edward W. Felten, Ph.D., Consulting Computer Scientist

Professor Felten is currently Professor of Computer Science and Public Affairs at Princeton University and founding Director of Princeton's Center for Information Technology Policy. His research includes computer security and privacy, especially relating to media and consumer products, and technology law and policy. He has published more than seventy works, including two books. His research on topics such as web security, copyright and copy protection, and electronic voting has been covered extensively in the popular press. Professor Felten received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Washington with a dissertation entitled, "Protocol Compilation: High-Performance Communication for Parallel Programs," a M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington, and a B.S. in Physics, with Honors, from California Institute of Technology. Professor Felten was the lead computer science expert witness for the Department of Justice in the Microsoft antitrust case, and has testified in other important lawsuits. He has testified before the Senate Commerce Committee on digital television technology and regulation, and before the House Administration Committee on electronic voting. In 2004, Scientific American magazine named him to its list of fifty worldwide science and technology leaders. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and Advisory Board of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the Executive Committee of the ACM U.S. Public Policy Committee. He has received numerous honors and awards including the Mercury Seven Foundation Fellowship, the AT&T Ph.D. Foundation Fellowship, the NSF National Young Investigator award, the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, and the EFF Pioneer Award.

Christian B. Hicks
Christian B. Hicks, Co-Founder, President

Mr. Hicks has advised clients on more than 50 matters relating to intellectual property and computer forensics. He has testified as an expert in Federal Court, submitted expert reports and affidavits, and has been deposed in several cases. Before co-founding Elysium Digital, he worked as a consultant for the AT&T Consumer Lab, where he developed data mining techniques and researched Internet programs and protocols. He is co-inventor on two patents on systems for unlocking remote electronic data. Mr. Hicks graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with an A.B. in Computer Science. While there, his academic research focused on artificial intelligence and earned him the Computer Science Senior Prize.

Geoff A. Cohen
Geoff A. Cohen, Ph.D., Computer Scientist

Dr. Cohen received his Ph.D. in Computer Science, with a minor in Electrical Engineering, from Duke University. He also holds an A.B. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. His areas of focus include program design, Java programming, programming methodology, bytecode analysis, and distributed systems. Dr. Cohen has testified as an expert before the International Trade Commission (ITC), submitted expert reports in Federal Court, and been deposed. Prior to joining Elysium Digital, Dr. Cohen worked for IBM, Data General, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, and the National Academy of Sciences.

J. Alex Halderman, Ph.D., Consulting Computer Scientist

J. Alex Halderman is Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where his research spans applied computer security and tech-centric public policy. He has studied topics including Web, network, and software security; data privacy; computer crime; and technological aspects of intellectual property law and government regulation. Professor Halderman has served as a technical expert in Federal Court, submitted multiple expert reports, and worked as a technical consultant and analyst on several patent litigation matters in which he was not a designated expert. Professor Halderman's work has received worldwide press coverage. He is widely known for his research into how digital rights management can be a threat to users' security; his analysis of touch-screen voting machines, which demonstrated the first voting machine virus; and his "cold boot" research into recovering data from RAM even while a computer is off. More recently, he revealed security flaws in China's Green Dam Youth Escort censorware software. Professor Halderman holds three degrees from Princeton University, all in computer science. He received an A.B., summa cum laude, an M.A., and a Ph.D. with a dissertation focused on computer security. He continues to hold an appointment as a visiting research collaborator at Princeton's Center for Information Technology Policy.

Jason H. Eaddy
Jason H. Eaddy, J.D., Computer Scientist

Mr. Eaddy has advised clients on more than 150 matters relating to intellectual property, computer forensics, and electronic discovery. Mr. Eaddy has testified as an expert in state and Federal Court, submitted expert reports, and been deposed on multiple occasions. His areas of focus include database and software analysis, computer forensics, e-mail software and formats, and electronic discovery consulting. Before joining Elysium Digital, Mr. Eaddy worked as a software engineer at Trilogy Software, where he was instrumental in launching their content service for the consumer electronics industry and developed a scheduling service for their primary e-commerce application. Prior to that, he created an account management system for Raymond James Financial. Mr. Eaddy graduated cum laude from Princeton University with an A.B. in Computer Science and magna cum laude with a J.D. from the New England School of Law.

Michael W. Perry
Michael W. Perry, Computer Forensic Analyst

Mr. Perry is a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) with the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS), as well as an Encase Certified Examiner (EnCE). Mr. Perry has a B.A. in Information Technology from Boston College. Prior to joining Elysium Digital, he was a Deputy Sheriff and Digital Evidence Forensic Examiner for the Plymouth County Sheriffs Department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). Mr. Perry has submitted expert testimony in District and Superior Court (MA) and has written several expert reports.

Joseph A. Calandrino
Joseph A. Calandrino, Consulting Computer Scientist

Mr. Calandrino is a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at Princeton University, where his research focus includes information security, applied cryptography, and information technology policy and law. His work in the areas of disk encryption and electronic voting has received extensive coverage in the popular press. He has testified as an expert in Federal Court, submitted expert reports, and been deposed. Mr. Calandrino holds an M.A. in Computer Science from Princeton University and a Master of Computer Science degree from the University of Virginia. He graduated with highest distinction from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics.
